Davidson Sauver, 18, has been charged with breach of peace, interfering with a police officer and criminal trespassing for an event that took place on Feb. 5, said Stamford Police Sgt. Joseph Kennedy.
Sauver was arrested after trespassing on the grounds of the Rogers International School, acting strangely and clutching something in his hand, police said.
He refused to let go of what he was holding before dropping to the ground with the object under his body, said Assistant Police Chief Jim Matheny.
Not knowing what the object was, a couple of officers got on his back and pulled his arms back, discovering a cardboard cutout of a small sword with words written on it, he said.
Officers took Sauver to Stamford Hospital for treatment, which is standard procedure when someone is having emotional problems.
He was released from the hospital on Friday and officers took him into custody at his home on Monday, Kennedy said.
The officers met with his family and explained his charges before releasing him on $25,000 bail, police said.
